Statement by Celia Cole, CEO of the Texas Food Bank Network (TFBN)
on the North Texas Tornado Emergency

“The Texas Food Bank Network (TFBN) is saddened by news of the north Texas communities damaged by last night’s tornadoes. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims, their families and those who lost their homes.

“As a member of the Texas VOAD (Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster), TFBN is prepared to assist those affected by the tornadoes with food and water. Our regional member food banks, the North Texas Food Bank and Tarrant Area Food Bank are currently assessing local emergency food systems in these communities for damage and possible re-supply. Other member food banks stand ready to deploy their resources as well.

“As soon as we have more information, we will let the media know how to direct people wanting to donate money, food or time to assist those affected by this emergency. In the meantime, please direct all volunteer or donation inquiries to Gaye Lynn Bailey, TFBN Disaster Coordinator at 817-531-3663.”

The Texas Food Bank Network provides a unified voice among food banks in support of their common mission to end hunger in Texas. Learn more at TFBN.org.
