TechSoup - Typhoon Haiyan: How to Help with Recovery Efforts

Philippine Red Cross Water Station
Relief organizations and first-responders are mobilizing to provide aid to those affected by Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. Organizations are working tirelessly on the ground to provide clean water, first aid, food, and shelter to those impacted. We've compiled a list of organizations to which you can donate to support these efforts as well as some disaster recovery resources. The staff at TechSoup Global is keeping all those affected by the devastating typhoon in our thoughts as we work to support recovery efforts.

Donate to Organizations Providing Relief

  • The Philippine Red Cross is on the ground providing relief to those in affected areas. The PRC accepts donations via PayPal or through UShare on its website.
  • All Hands Volunteers is currently measuring the damage in the Philippines and determining the number of volunteers to send to the region. To help these efforts, you can donate directly to All Hands or apply to volunteer with the effort.
  • Caritas Australia, an organization dedicated to fighting poverty and providing disaster relief, is working on providing clean water, sanitation, and household relief.
  • Oxfam International's disaster relief teams are assessing the extent of the damage in the Philippines and deploying water and sanitation materials. Donations help scale up these response efforts.
  • Unicef is providing water, hygiene supplies and child-friendly spaces in evacuation centers to help families recover.
  • Help Habitat for Humanity re-build the Philippines after Haiyan destroyed over 3,438 houses (as of November 10).

  • Doctors Without Borders has deployed emergency teams to bring care to people affected by the typhoon.
  • Aidmatrix has set up a Virtual Aid Drive to help to procure items needed within the Philippines, and is helping ensure that goods are delivered rapidly to people in need. Through their site you can also direct your donation to one of the many organizations working in the Philippines.
  • GlobalGiving has compiled a list of organizations and projects you can donate to.
  • Focusing Philanthropy has recommended Gawad Kalinga as a local relief organization.
