Our partners at MedShare were recently able to provide 5 pallets of medical supplies to HOPE worldwide Philippines to aid the victims of Typhoon Haiyan. They were able to transport the medical supplies to the victims thanks to the Aidmatrix International Transportation Program, a web portal technology and supporting program infrastructure which aims to match freight forwarders with the needs of INGOs. This particular move was donated by our partner at UPS.
The medical supplies were distributed from February 20-22 throughout the municipality of Daanbantayan, in the province of Cebu, the Philippines, located at the northern tip of Cebu island. This region was heavily damaged by Typhoon Haiyan, and the recovery is slow, but these medical supplies and the other aid being provided to the residents of Daanbantayan are helping the survivors to be empowered again.
"All of us at MedShare thank you so much for the
generous donation of shipping the 5 pallets of medical supplies and medicines
to Cebu for us shortly after Typhoon Haiyan struck. The recipient of the
donated supplies, a charity called Hope worldwide Philippines, just sent
us back a beautiful report on the distribution and impact of the donated
supplies and medicines around the Daanbantayan region.Without UPS and Aidmatrix’s generous donation of the
free airfreight, this donation never would have been possible," stated Amanda Paniagua, Shipments Manager for MedShare.
Some of the donated medical supplies included surgical masks, syringes, medical gloves, assorted medicines, dextrose hoses and gauze sponges.
